Lee Roberts is a Public Affairs specialist at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District. He manages a social media presence on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr and LinkedIn. As a journalist he covers operations across a seven-state area, which includes the headquarters, 43 field offices, 10 lakes and dams, and 18 navigation locks. He maintains the website, writes strategic communication plans, handles media queries, coordinates responses for public inquiries, and facilitates posts for the commander’s blog. Lee retired from the Air Force in 2008. During a 24-year military career, he served notable stints in the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Public Affairs Office and Air Force News Agency.  He also deployed to Saudi Arabia as editor of the Gulf View newspaper, to Kosovo as the only American Public Affairs staff member for the French commander of NATO’s Kosovo Force, and to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in the Joint Information Bureau Media Operations Center following the 9-11 attacks.

He is a graduate of the Defense Information School, holds associate degrees in Public Affairs and Avionic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force, and a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University with an emphasis in public relations. He earned his master’s degree in new media journalism at Full Sail University.

He creates in-depth stories, imagery and videos on Lead230.com.  He covers topics including music, recreation, water safety, government, and civil works. He is an experienced communicator and aspires to hone his new media skills as he continues to serve the nation in government service.
