NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 31, 2013) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District urges the public to be cautious while the Tennessee Valley Authority replaces a transmission line across J. Percy Priest Lake.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 4, TVA transmission line construction crews will be replacing the transmission conductor (wires) on the Wilson-Pin Hook Transmission Line. The project is expected to take three weeks to complete, depending on weather.
All watercraft operators should avoid the work zone if possible or take extra precaution by traveling at idle speed while traveling on J. Percy Priest Reservoir near River Mile 6.8. The transmission line is located on the west side of the Hobson Pike Bridge. Boaters should also watch for marker buoys and heed warnings from safety boats that will be on patrol in the area. The safety boats will be monitoring marine channel 16 and can be contacted on that channel.
TVA will be removing the transmission conductor and replacing it with new, higher capacity conductor. Work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. CDT, Monday through Thursday. For more information about this project, please contact Scott Brookes with TVA at 615-232-6141.
