At 84 Parker hits high note with God

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 17, 2013) — Gospel Artist Lorraine Guth Parker, 84, said she loves to sing the “Lord’s Prayer,” and a heavenly relationship she enjoys enables her to pursue her many interests, perform her favorite songs and to hit a high note with God.

“It’s like your foot fitting in a shoe.  It was just natural,” Parker said about her walk with God and love for gospel music.  When she performs, she said she concentrates on the Lord.   “I just say my prayers and the next thing you know this lady is hitting high C,” she noted.

Parker said she is more engaged with life than ever.  She’s involved with her six children, 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  She’s only a year away from earning a master’s degree in criminal justice from Middle Tennessee State University.  And to top everything off, she remains involved in a country and gospel singing career that has garnered her numerous performing arts honors over the past 21 years. She attributes her success and career aspirations and musical motivations to a higher calling.

When Parker was a child she loved listening to Country Music legend Gene Autry.  When she first began singing it was country, but it wasn’t long after she found her niche in gospel music.
